Description
Turkey Tail is rich in B-glucans, a type of polysaccharide within the fungal cell walls that works to support the immune system. Turkey Tail has been used as a traditional medicine for thousands of years for improving liver and spleen function, removing toxins, increasing energy and spirit and enhancing the immune response. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) considers Turkey Tail to have spleen-nourishing, heat-clearing and detoxifying properties.
Turkey Tail also has a long traditional use as a medicine in the treatment of cancer and illnesses related to immune deficiency, and to reduce side effects of conventional cancer treatments.

A University of Pennsylvania Vet study found that dogs with cancer (hemangiosarcoma) that were treated with a compound made from Turkey Tail had the longest survival times ever reported. "We were shocked, [...] Prior to this, the longest reported median survival time of dogs with hemangiosarcoma of the spleen that underwent no further treatment was 86 days.
